Has he woken with a yawn as the morning light illuminates the room, or is his mouth open in silent scream? And the woman, whose image is partially reflected in the mirror as she stares at the man?

The story of this painting is open to the interpretation of the viewer and their own narrative and is reminiscent of the story behind Edward Hopper's artwork.
