Bar Italia, Around Midnight

Urban nocturnal landscape painting of the renowned Soho coffee shop, Bar Italia. One of the last surviving Soho coffee shops, Bar Italia on Frith Street, W1 has been in business since 1949 and hasn't changed much in all that time.

The neon sign of Bar Italia is matched by the glow of Ronnie Scott's neon sign directly opposite, and whenever Mark goes to a gig at Ronnie’s, he'll nearly always arrange to meet friends at Bar Italia beforehand and bask in the provocative glow from both iconic venues.

The two lone figures are there for the viewer to create their own story of who they are, and what they might be doing? However, they are based on two real people and a little story. If you buy the painting, I will tell you.

Signed, and stamped on the rear of the canvas with the artist’s stamp and provided with a certificate of authenticity as the original piece of art.
