The Coach & Horses Gent’s Toilet

The inspiration for this painting came from a time when Mark was enjoying a drink in the Coach and Horses pub in Greek Street in London's Soho. Whilst visiting the toilet, Mark was taken with the green Victorian tiles and anaglypta wallpaper. The high cistern with the chain flush covered in stickers and the graffiti, ‘The Coach & Horses will never die’.

It immediately reminded him of a painting of a toilet by British artist John Randall Bratby, who painted ‘kitchen sink’ paintings in the 1950s. Mark took inspiration from his piece to create his own artwork on a tall narrow canvas.

The painting is owned by the Coach & Horses and can be viewed on the wall. Just make sure you buy a pint!
